Setting Your Intention
What would you like this year to bring you?
Do you know? Most people do not take the time to really think through what it is they really want. If you will take the time to do this exercise, the results will astound you.
It's easier than you think. Many people over-complicate the process of planning out their future and think themselves into inertia. Then nothing gets done. Others think they like to be "spontaneous" and the idea of planning turns them off. Some people, even entrepreneurs, find keeping an agenda or day-timer restrictive and they would rather "take it as it comes." The problem with that is when your focus is unclear, so are your results. When they are not written down, goals are merely wishes. And when you don't bother to set your own agenda, you become part of someone else's.
The simple steps are…
1. Get clear about something you want and write it down.
2. Do something today to demonstrate your commitment to that intention.
3. Acknowledge that you did what you said you would and then, take the next step.
By setting an intention, you make it clear to yourself and others, just what you plan to do. Set an intention to redefine what it means to be serious about your dreams.
The power is in the written word. Once you write it down, your intention takes on a new power, a sort-of life of its own. Now you have made a statement, made it crystal clear to the Universe what it is that you intend to have, do or be. Now the Universe will get to work on your behalf. Your work is not to perseverate on the "hows." You don't worry about how it's going to happen, you only look for evidence of its coming and act as needed.
Keep it to yourself. Some people suggest that you share your intention with a close friend for "accountability," but I disagree. I believe that each time you tell someone else about your intention, you weaken its power. Keep your intentions to yourself and give them the chance to really grow and take form in your life.
